This is a completely new territory for me but it feels naturally apart of my current practice. I have always looked at my work in a poetic manner from the dialogues I have with my subjects to the mysticism of seeing the world we live in and blending the resonance of it within the materials I use to paint. In a way writing and performing poetry it is carrying the same message just the tool that implements is different.

A poem written in response to the painting 'home' of a homeless man (Richard) I had the pleasure of sitting and talking too. His story had a profound impact on me and inspired an instinctual response to make a painting, I asked him if I could make the work and he was humbled by this. This poem is an extension to the painting whilst simultaneously being a artwork in itself. I attempted to explore the idea of what home is to us, as well as questioning our perceptions of nations, power vs poverty and acknowledgement of our own ignorances. I hope the work reveals our humanity whilst at the same time highlights an indivuals journey from his trauma of fighting in Falklands and becoming homeless to his strength and persistence of living on the streets. A poem written about twocking (stealing cars). It is essentially about the paths we choose to walk down and the circumstances that direct us there It delves into the Police chases I would witness on a daily basis growing up. Whilst highlighting the pysche of neighborhood Badboys and the underclass demonisation which occupied their lives.
